Comfortable and Home-Like Setting

Each of our spacious suites offers you privacy in a restful and soothing environment. Each suite is decorated in a different style. Whichever suite you choose provides an intimate atmosphere with a queen-sized bed, private bath, whirlpool tub and plenty of windows for natural lighting. The whirlpool tub is used for relaxation and pain relief during labor. You can have a water birth if you desire. After the baby is born you receive a soothing herbal bath that promotes comfort and healing.

The open concept of Goshen Birth Center provides a spacious living area for family members and friends to relax and wait for the new arrival. Here you will enjoy all the amenities of home including comfortable furniture, a fireplace, play area for children, and a kitchen and dining area. You can create an atmosphere that is suited to you and your family's unique needs.

Water Birth Option

Delivering in water is popular with many women because of the many benefits. Women find water relaxing; helping them to move into different positions to assist the birthing process and provide an anesthetic effect. It also reduces tearing to the perineum and eases the baby’s transition from the womb to the world.

Personalized Care by Certified Nurse –Midwives

Our certified nurse-midwives are employed by Fairhaven Obstetrics and Gynecology and also have admitting privileges at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

Midwives give one-to-one care that considers the health needs of mother and baby while respecting your personal preferences and values. Research shows this continuous personal support lowers rates of C-Sections and other medical interventions. Our midwives use complementary and alternative modalities and techniques for pain relief that avoids the use of pain medication. Your baby stays with you from the moment of birth until you leave the birth center, allowing plenty of time for breast feeding. Classes and personal coaching prepare you to go home shortly after birth. A home visit within 24 hours ensures that all is going well.

As a Birth Center client, you are carefully evaluated to ensure that you possess minimal risks for complications, giving you peace of mind. Our care is consistent with the best available research on safety and effectiveness. Should issues arise, Goshen General Hospital is only minutes away and a midwife can continue to care for you there. Fairhaven OB/GYN physicians are available 24 hours a day if a doctor's consultation or care becomes necessary.
